  2. African-Americans during the American Revolution were a great time in history. With the American Revolutionary war, the white race were frighten to death to let African-Americans be soldiers. They feared that by letting African-Americans be soldiers they would fight back and raid the colonies & leave their slave masters without permission. If this would have been an accurate result, there would be less business and a shorter money flow for Plantation owners. Around 1750, Crispus Attucks was the first black Martyr of the Revolution. What makes him so important in history is not only was he the first martyr but he was it by choice and bot forced. Later in 1770, He was shot and killed by two bullets to the chest.

Also during the American Revolution we had elite African-Americans such as Phyllis Wheatley and Benjamin Banneker. Unlike most house slaves, Phyllis Wheatley was treated as family & would get education from her slave master/slave master's family on how to read and write. With her knowledge, Phyllis Wheatley was the first African-american to have written historical poems and have it published. She even wrote a letter to the former president at the time. Another educated figure during the American Revolution was Benjamin Banneker. Benjamin Banneker was a free African- American who self taught himself everything he knew based of the bible. He studied math and science and was the first African-American to publish an almanac. In all, African-Americans during the American Revolution have accomplished many tasks and were confident enough to know that being black and a racist world is not going to stop them from furthering their talents.
